A 73-year-old Union City Department of Public Works employee was struck and

A 73-year-old Union City Department of Public Works employee was struck and killed by a 16-year-old driver Monday morning, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

The crash, which occurred at 7:36 a.m. in the area of Palisade Avenue and 36th Street, is under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Union City Police Department.

Responding officers located Fortunato Rojas-Solis, who was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at approximately 5:15 p.m.
