Sony is ready to bring life to any and every party with its newly unveiled set of powerful wireless speakers. The company recently debuted two brand new speakers, one of which is a towering party speaker, dubbed the SRS-XV800, that can double as a standing soundbar for your TV. Accompanying its giant sibling, Sony also launched a compact portable speaker named the SRS-XB100, which blends high-quality sound with unmatched portability, letting you take your music anywhere you go.

Joining the premium XV900 high-power wireless speaker, the Sony SRS-XV800 measures slightly over 28 inches in height and comes with its own set of wheels and carry handle, allowing you to easily roll it around and transform any room into a dance floor. The speaker even has a customisable, music-synced light show that can be tuned whenever you like using Sony's Fiestable app. Like most party speakers on the market, the SRS-XV800 is IPX4 water-resistant and features dual audio input jacks for those long karaoke/jam sessions with friends. As usual, these have support for Bluetooth along with Sony's hi-res-capable LDAC codec and SBC and AAC.

In terms of audio and sound, the SRS-XV800 delivers an omnidirectional "party" sound that Sony claims can transmit audio to "every corner of the room." There are a total of five tweeters that send "clear" audio to both front and back, while the dual X-Balanced Speaker Units ensure a "punchy bass" that you can feel. "Sony's X-Balanced Speaker unit features an almost rectangular diaphragm that not only maximises the area of the speaker diaphragm but also increases sound pressure for deeper and punchier bass, less distortion and greater vocal clarity for a richer, clearer and more rewarding listening experience," says the company.

With the customisable, built-in light show disabled, the SRS-XV800 can last up to 25 hours on one full charge. But even with those lights turned on, we expect the speaker to last around 16 to 20 hours which is pretty decent, considering the sheer amount of power on offer. For times when you need a quick top-up, the SRS-XV800 supports a 10-minute quick charge that will provide you with roughly three hours of juice. The added TV connection is one of the newest and head-turning features of the XV800. This enables you to hook your speaker to your TV and get the same level of audio as the TV's internal speakers and even "boost your TV watching experience by enhancing the deep bass and realistic high-frequencies."Image: Sony

Sony also came out with a new, miniature-sized portable speaker that lets you take your music anywhere you go. The SRS-XB100 is a compact cylindrical Bluetooth speaker with the same (almost) level of audio goodness but in a portable avatar. The speaker features a passive radiator for powerful and immersive sound, while the off-centre diaphragm promises to offer "clear sound even at high volumes." This pocket-sized speaker even comes with a "Sound Diffusion Processor" that "expands sound in any space, with its DSP technology."

The SRS-XB100 comes with a claimed battery life of almost 16 hours and is waterproof and dustproof with an IP67 rating. But the fun doesn't stop there. You can even pair two of these for a stereo setup or connect additional speakers for an ear-splitting sound experience. The speaker has a built-in microphone for attending calls and there's even Echo Cancelling, "which allows two people to talk at the same time without cutting off either of them."

Both the SRS-XV800 and the SRS-XB100 are available for pre-order in the US, with the official Australian product page listing both the speakers as "available soon." The XV800 is priced at USD $649 (AUD $960) while you can get the XB100 for USD $59 (AUD $87). Australian prices for both products will be revealed at a later date.
